[...] One of my favorite people in the world emailed me this today. I absolutely love it. So often, I say, “life is easy. it really is. I can choose the easy way to do something or the hard way. what if it were easy?” And the easy way needs to also be the right way. [...]

[...] We talked earlier about how being good can be hard. And yet. And yet. At the same time as potentially being hard, being good can feel so right. As Will Smith says here, “Think of yourself as two people, and one of them is inside of you, and he’s a scorekeeper. And he keeps score of your idea of the world. … And when you have a conflict with your scorekeeper, that’s unhappiness. Happiness is being completely in sync with your own perception of goodness.” [...]

Senia, I really enjoyed reading this post. I like it when I'm challenged to think. Thanks. I just want to comment on choosing what is good or what is easy. Life is busy and complicated. I've found that sometimes choosing easy turns out not to be easy and choosing good sometimes turns out not to be good. It's not an either or thing. Black and white would be so much easier than all these shades of grey.

[...] Note: Thursday is quote day. I posted this on Fri, and backdated to Thurs (I like to detail out these notes when I fiddle with dates in the blog). I totally want this quote in for this week for Thursday-quoteday because it so fits with what I’ve been thinking about re: being good. « Pumpkins! [...]

That's why I love the Harry Potter quote by Professor Dumbledore; '...we will have to choose between what is good and what is easy.'

For me it seems to be that way too, the choice often isn't between good or evil, but between good and easy.
