TALKS and WORKSHOPS OFFERED

  • The Science of Happiness for Business Owners

There is a field that is even younger than the Internet - Positive Psychology! Positive Psychology was launched in 1998 as a branch of psychology that focuses on what is right with people. Just as Psychology after World War II studied diseases and illnesses, so now too, Positive Psychology studies optimal human functioning - happiness, success, and productivity. Senia Maymin is a graduate of the first-ever worldwide Masters’ Program in Positive Psychology at UPenn in 2006.
In this workshop, Senia discusses the main findings of Positive Psychology, the so-called “Science of Happiness,” and specific applications for business owners. Further bolstering the research findings by her own experience as a serial entrepreneur and as an Executive Coach to entrepreneurs, Senia creates an interactive workshop that gives participants actual take-away techniques to apply to their lives and their businesses.

  • The Routine of Success - Creating New Work Habits

Everyone wants to be more effective and more productive at work. But want doesn’t always transfer into do.

In this workshop, we discuss new results in positive psychology towards creating (and sticking to) new habits at work. The workshop includes self-regulation, creating new mental pathways, self-efficacy, incremental wins, and creating good constraints. All of this is discussed in an interactive format and put into a clear framework for future reference and most importantly, implementation. (Sources of information are Locke, Latham, Lopez, Snyder, Seligman, Reivich, Bandura, Baumeister, Graybiel, Schwartz, and Franklin.) The talk combines theory and practice: in-depth research studies and work-specific recommendations based on the habit-creation and behavior-modification theory from Positive Psychology and based on the presenter’s background as President of technology start-up companies.

  • Three Factors Critical to Improving Job Productivity and Enjoyment

What three factors are crucially tied to sales? Could you improve these three factors as an employer so that the employees develop stronger productivity and increase enjoyment? The answer is yes, and the three factors are presented through case studies and an interactive format. We will discuss in detail 1) Strengths, 2) Flow, and 3) Optimism as three factors that can increase your job enjoyment and decrease turnover at companies. Using your Strengths at work is one of two components most correlated to job satisfaction. How can people use their strengths most at work? How can you do more of that which you do best? The psychological state of Flow and engagement with the task at hand, sometimes to the point of being oblivious to surroundings, is a state many employers seek to capture. What conditions at work most contribute to achieving this state of flow? How does Optimism differ as an explanatory style for good and bad events? When is optimism not the answer? Sometimes, flexibility and accuracy are needed to keep optimism in check. How can you most increase optimism at work?

  • Resilience and Optimism in Leadership

How to use three researched techniques for creating resiliency and forward-moving organizations, in times of growth or in times of trouble. Does your explanatory style hinder your ability to lead? Do you show resilience? Which of the components of resilience do you need to implement more? How can you redefine and reframe the organization’s situation while retaining accuracy and flexibility?

  • The Resilience Mindset for Entrepreneurs

How to use three researched techniques (Me-Always-Everything, ABC, and the APE Method) for ousting problems and moving forward productively with the business.
